    Abstract

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics is interested in preparing statistical research that reflects a true picture of the life of the Egyptian citizen from all demographic, social and economic dimensions. Therefore, the agency implements research on income, spending, and consumption, which is one of the most important household researches conducted by statistical agencies in various countries of the world, because it provides detailed data that help in identifying the consumption patterns of society and the changes that occur to those patterns as a result of the social and economic changes that occur from one period to another. It also provides data that enables measuring living standards and determining poverty lines upon which decision makers rely in developing social protection programs, as well as providing the necessary weights for constructing consumer price indices, which are an important indicator for measuring inflation

    Supervision

    Field work methodology:
A- Those working in this research were selected through the competition from among the most efficient members of distinguished young graduates, especially females, and those with previous experience were preferred.
B- The field work structure consists of the following supervisory and executive levels:

    • 65 field supervisors.
    • 130 field references.
    • 260 field researchers.
C- Central training courses were held at the agency's headquarters in Cairo for supervisors and local for auditors and researchers in eight training points covering all regions of the Republic. The training lasted for a full month, during which training was conducted on how to complete the search forms automatically.
D- The research data was collected by switching from the paper method to an integrated system automatically using portable computers (laptops) in the manner of a personal interview for the family in the residence in which they reside. The data was obtained from the head of the family, the wife, or a rational adult from the family members. In the absence of the head of the family and the wife, the field work continued with the research from 1/10/2021 - 31/10/2022.
e- The researchers visited each of the surveyed families four times during the research period according to a schedule prepared for this purpose, and the duties of the researchers were determined during each of the four visits.
F- Income data was collected at the last visit to the household and after the completion of the collection of expenditure data so that the sensitivity of the income data does not affect the collection of expenditure data.
    Data Collection Notes

‌ The enumerated household is to be visited twice during the year of the survey (once every 6 months) to monitor the seasonal effects on their expenditures.

    Data processing

    Data Editing

We used the electronic methods (Tablets) in the field work of data entry directly after the visit with the household, and sending it right away to the automation data Unite at CAPMAS to be reviewed, evaluated and to give the researcher a feedback about any mistake or notices about the data he sent before he visits the next household, in order to process these mistakes and modify it with the same household, which affects the accuracy and the creditability of these data.

    Data appraisal

    Estimates of Sampling Error

The variance of estimates, sampling error, design effect and estimation with trust interval (95%) were estimated using the ultimate cluster method , among the applocations set (CENVAR ) (IMPS) Integrated Microcomputer Processing System
